For Short Stories:
Each entry will be judged according to the following criteria:
The story should feature characters (from the "real world" being transported by some means (magic portals, VR headsets, magic pills, cursed objects, etc.) to a video game world which obeys the rules of video games.
Stat tables are frequently used by LitRPG authors and are a hallmark that is expected by readers. They do not have to be everywhere, but there should be video game mechanics such as leveling up or stat increases through acquiring gear, weapons or other means.
In addition to the in-game environment and game mechanics, the editors of SciFan Magazine look for the following things:
· Should jump right into the middle of a scene to grab reader attention
· Should be fast-paced to keep reader attention.
· No opening backstory. These are meant to be short stories.
· Must be engaging. It needs to be able to engage readers.
